as to add on the definition. it seems to short. let me do a web search:

1. Pleasure.
2. Inclination; desire.
3. Longing desire; eagerness to possess or enjoy; -- in a had sense; as, the lust of gain.
4. Licentious craving; sexual appetite.
Hence: Virility; vigor; active power.

to me i think lust does not simple means a strong desire. it should mean a strong desire to own or posses something. for eg if u lust over a bag you will think about it and imagine yourself having it. so for love, isnt it the same. you love the bag you wanna get it.

the main difference i believe it that lust is more concerned with ownership. to satisfy our lust, we will try all means to get what we want, even with cheaper subsituites. it make us happier. as for true love. it doesnt happen that way. we can be contented just by looking at it. we can take it that some better owner will get that bag. yes. as the cliche going: you dont have to posses to love someone or something, let someone go if you really love him or her. its just a thin line of difference yet most of us take lust for love of even like for love.

i think its a pity and it makes me laugh at how much our world has changed and become moved by self desires. our love no longer pure, our actions no longer extend a kind hand to others, our thoughts no longer without motives. and also the fact that many can differentiate between like, lust and love. i hope whatever i have said is clear for those who are still muddleheaded. it just isnt right to be confused with all these emotions. its sad~
